Computerspielemuseum: Berlin's video game museum, opening hours and tickets

Updated on October 5, 2026

The Computerspielemuseum, on Karl-Marx-Allee in Friedrichshain, is Berlin's video game museum. Housed in the former Café Warschau, it traces the history of digital games from Pong to modern consoles, with arcade cabinets, period computers and reconstructed rooms where you are allowed to play. It is an ideal outing for families, teenagers and nostalgic gamers, especially on a rainy day. The museum is open every day from 10:00 to 20:00. Allow about 2 hours for a visit, longer if you like replaying the classics.

Highlights

The building

The building

The museum occupies the former Café Warschau, in a building on Karl-Marx-Allee, the grand monumental avenue of former East Berlin. Its "Computerspiele Museum" sign is easy to spot on the façade.

The permanent exhibition

It follows the history of video games with pieces such as Pong and Computer Space, and computers and consoles from several generations. Interactive installations let you play rather than just look.

The arcade cabinets

The arcade cabinets

A reconstructed 1980s arcade hall lines up working cabinets such as Space Invaders. Children rush in, and parents relive their teenage years.

The Pain Station and the 1990s living room

Among the best-known installations, the "Pain Station" is a two-player game of Pong in which you risk small physical penalties; next to it, a reconstructed 1990s living room lets you replay on the consoles of the time.

Temporary exhibitions

The museum regularly changes its temporary exhibitions; when we checked (October 2026), the exhibition "A Fantastic Failure" was on show.
