The two ways to do Berlin to Copenhagen

Option Duration Indicative price Best for
Direct ComfortJet (ČD, with DB and DSB) about 7 h from 46.99 euros at DB; from 456 DKK at DSB those who want one train, no change
Change at Hamburg about 7 h varies if the direct times do not suit you

Our recommendation: the direct ComfortJet. For the same duration, it spares you the change at Hamburg and carrying your luggage.

The journey in detail

The ComfortJet links Prague, Berlin and Copenhagen: launched on 1 May 2026 with one train a day, it has two per direction since 14 June, according to the source we consulted. It takes the long way via Hamburg, then Jutland and the island of Funen. Allow about 4 h 40 to 5 h between Hamburg and Copenhagen depending on the source. These times are not guaranteed: check your train.

Works: check your date

A works notice is flagged for journeys between 31 August and 31 October 2026. Check the timetable and any replacements on bahn.de or the DSB site.

Tickets and booking

  • Sales open up to six months before departure.
  • Two sellers: Deutsche Bahn and DSB. Compare the price and the change conditions.
  • Book early: low fares are tied to one train.
  • Seat reservation: check whether it is included in your fare.

And the Fehmarn tunnel?

It will link Germany and Denmark without a ferry and roughly halve the Hamburg to Copenhagen time, but sources disagree: opening around 2029, fast trains not before about 2030. For a trip in 2026 or 2027 it changes nothing.
