The essentials

Self-service laundry

Launderettes are marked "Waschsalon" or "Waschcenter". The machines are set by programme and temperature, and the dryer is paid separately. Check the hours posted on the door: shops are closed on Sunday, and many launderettes too; see Sunday in Berlin. If you rent a place with a washing machine, it is simpler: compare in hotel or aparthotel in Berlin.

Printing tickets and documents

Hotels often print a boarding pass or a ticket at reception, sometimes for free. Otherwise a Copyshop or a neighbourhood library has a printer. Keep the digital version on your phone: most transport and museum tickets are scanned from the screen. For internet access, see SIM card and eSIM in Berlin.

Shipping a parcel or souvenirs

The simplest way is to drop the parcel at a post office or Paketshop with a full address and the recipient's phone number. For a shipment outside the European Union, a customs declaration is required: the branch gives you the form, and the recipient may have duties to pay. For tax-free purchases, see the VAT refund in shopping in Berlin. If the parcel is heavy, compare with a checked bag. Gift ideas are in Berlin souvenirs.
