Sea Life Berlin: the aquarium near Alexanderplatz, tickets, opening hours and visit

Updated on October 9, 2026

Sea Life Berlin is an aquarium in the Mitte district, a short walk from the TV Tower and Alexanderplatz. It shows fish, sharks, rays, jellyfish and seahorses in a route of about an hour, and is especially popular with families. It reopened in May 2023 after the AquaDom, the huge cylindrical aquarium of the neighbouring hotel, burst on 16 December 2022; the AquaDom used to be part of the visit, but it no longer exists and has not been rebuilt. The opening hours and prices below were seen in October 2026 on online booking sources; the aquarium's official website could not be consulted for this page, so check them when you book.

Highlights

The former AquaDom

The former AquaDom

This photo shows the AquaDom as it was before its destruction: a glass cylinder more than 25 metres high, with a lift running through it, in the lobby of the Radisson hotel. It burst in 2022 and the hotel reopened in 2025 with a different lobby. Today the Sea Life visit takes place only in the aquarium rooms next door.

The aquarium tanks

The aquarium tanks

Booking sites quote about 5,000 animals in 37 tanks.

The glass tunnel

You walk under sharks and rays, a moment of the visit that children often remember.

Touch pools and feeding shows

Pools let you touch some animals under staff supervision, and feeding presentations take place at set times during the day: ask for the schedule at the entrance.

The jellyfish gallery and the seahorses

Two quieter rooms, where it is easy to linger.

Tips

Prices seen in October 2026: from €15 online for an adult (about €19 at the ticket desk), from €11 for a child aged 3 to 14, free for under-3s. Booking online is therefore cheaper and saves you the queue; tickets are dated, with prices that vary with demand. Allow 1 to 1.5 hours for the visit. It is all indoors, so it is a good rainy-day idea (see Berlin when it rains). For comparison, the Berlin Zoo also has its own, older and more traditional aquarium, and our guide to Berlin with children lists other outings. To spread the cost of several visits, also look at the WelcomeCard and check whether this attraction is among its discounts.

How to get there

Spandauer Straße 3, 10178 Berlin. S-Bahn and U-Bahn: Alexanderplatz station, then about 5 minutes on foot; or U5 / tram: Rotes Rathaus station. The aquarium stands at the foot of the TV Tower, near the Marienkirche and the Nikolaiviertel.
