Tropical Islands: the tropical water park near Berlin, tickets and how to get there
About 60 kilometres south of Berlin, Tropical Islands fills the former airship hangar at Brand-Briesen, one of the largest free-standing halls in the world. Under this dome the park recreates a tropical landscape heated all year: rainforest, sandy beach, lagoon, slides, saunas and, outdoors, the Amazonia garden. It is the ideal day out for families when it rains or freezes, about an hour by train from the capital. Tickets are bought online at a much lower price than at the desk. The prices, hours and journey times given are those noted in October 2026; check them on tropical-islands.de.
Highlights

The slides and the water park
Under the hall, several slides, including illuminated tube runs, lead down to the Jungle Splash and the pools; part of the facilities is reserved for children. Queues are longest in the middle of the day at weekends and during school holidays.

The rainforest
Under the dome, paths and bridges cross a tropical garden planted with palms, ferns and exotic plants. The air stays around 26 °C whatever the season.

The Tropical Sea and the beach
A large lagoon edged with sandy beach and sun loungers lets you swim sheltered from the weather, even in midwinter.
Amazonia and the saunas
The outdoor Amazonia garden offers open-air water play. The park also has a sauna and wellness area; as in most German saunas, people are generally naked there: ask about the rules at the entrance.
Staying overnight
The park offers rooms, bungalows, tents inside the hall and a campsite; nights are often cheaper on weekdays. Day visitors pay only for entry.
Tickets and prices
Adult day ticket from €34.90 online depending on the date, around €42.90 at the desk in 2026; family ticket (2 adults and up to 3 children) from €129.90 online; free up to age 3. Children aged 4 to 12 and teenagers have reduced prices, to be checked according to the day. Discounts exist for early booking or on weekdays.
Practical info
Tips
Book online and choose a weekday outside school holidays: it is the cheapest and quietest. Bring swimwear, a towel and flip-flops (the park also sells them). Dress in layers: it is about 26 °C inside, but cold outside in winter. Food on site is more expensive than in the city. If you come by car, parking is charged (check the rate on the official site). For a longer day, combine the visit with a trip to the Spreewald, half an hour away by car.
How to get there
Tropical-Islands-Allee 1, 15910 Krausnick. Train: the RE2 (Berlin – Cottbus) serves Brand Tropical Islands station in 50 to 60 minutes from central Berlin, usually with one train an hour; a free shuttle, timed with the trains, runs from the station to the park. In 2026, while the Stadtbahn is closed to regional trains (until 12 December 2026), the RE2 runs via Gesundbrunnen, Ostkreuz and Schöneweide. By car: about 60 km on the A13 towards Dresden, then the Staakow exit and 3 km of signposts.
