Urban Nation: the free street art museum in Berlin-Schöneberg

Updated on October 5, 2026

Urban Nation is Berlin's museum of contemporary urban art: street art, murals, graffiti, posters and installations by artists from around the world. Housed since 2017 in a corner building on Bülowstraße in Schöneberg, it stages temporary exhibitions that change regularly and are generally free to enter. The façade is already an artwork: colourful murals at ground level, a big black-and-red lettering on the upper floors and an Invader mosaic at the very top. The museum grew out of an older project, "One Wall": since 2013 artists have painted large murals on the gable walls of the neighbourhood every year. After your visit, a half-hour walk around Bülowstraße and Nollendorfplatz takes in several of them. The museum is about twenty minutes on foot from the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, or a few U-Bahn stops from Potsdamer Platz.

Highlights

The museum façade

The museum façade

Before going in, look at the Bülowstraße corner: murals over the whole ground floor, giant letters on the upper floors and a small pixelated Invader figure at the top. The façade changes with the exhibitions.

The temporary exhibitions

There is no permanent collection to walk through: each show brings together paintings, installations, photographs and videos by artists of the urban scene. A free media guide (images, videos and audio) goes with the current exhibition.

The "One Wall" murals of the neighbourhood

The gable walls of Schöneberg work as a free open-air gallery, open at any hour. Ask at the desk for the mural map or spot them as you walk between Bülowstraße and Nollendorfplatz.

Tips

Entry to the museum is generally free (checked in October 2026); it relies mainly on donations, and a donation at the door is appreciated. The venue is step-free and has no car park. Groups of 8 or more must register in advance; a contribution of €40 (20 to 40 people) or €60 (41 to 70) is asked from 20 people. Guided tours of the exhibitions and of the neighbourhood's street art are offered in five languages by booking, from €120 for a group: the price is per group, not per person. Allow 1 hour for the exhibition, 2 hours with the walk through the neighbourhood. For more works, see our guide to street art in Berlin and the East Side Gallery.
