Käthe Kollwitz Museum in Berlin: Opening Hours, Tickets and Visit at Charlottenburg Palace

Updated on October 5, 2026

The Käthe Kollwitz Museum (Käthe-Kollwitz-Museum Berlin) is devoted to the Berlin printmaker and sculptor Käthe Kollwitz (1867-1945), known for drawings, lithographs and woodcuts about poverty, war and grief. Since September 2022 it has been housed in the Theaterbau, the former theatre of Charlottenburg Palace, after years in a villa on Fasanenstraße. It is open every day from 11:00 to 18:00. A ticket costs €8 (reduced €5), free for under-18s. Allow an hour.

Highlights

The rooms of the Theaterbau

The rooms of the Theaterbau

The bright rooms present the artist's work in its historical context: drawings, prints and sculptures from more than five decades of work in Berlin. The museum also offers temporary exhibitions, guided tours and workshops.

A committed artist

Käthe Kollwitz lived and worked in Berlin, in the Prenzlauer Berg district where a square bears her name. Her scenes of working-class poverty, motherhood and war make her one of the major voices of German social art in the 20th century.

The Pietà of the Neue Wache

An enlargement of her sculpture "Mother with her Dead Son" fills the Neue Wache on Unter den Linden, the Federal Republic's central memorial, on its own: see our guide to Mitte.

The shop

The museum shop sells catalogues, postcards and reproductions.
