Museum Bröhan: Art Nouveau and Art Deco, Tickets and Opening Hours

Updated on October 15, 2026

The Museum Bröhan, Schloßstraße 1a in Charlottenburg, is Berlin's state museum of Art Nouveau (Jugendstil), Art Deco and Functionalism. It shows decorative and applied arts from 1880 to 1940: glassware by Émile Gallé, Meissen and Sèvres porcelain, furniture, posters, and paintings by the Berlin Secession. Several furniture ensembles are displayed as complete period rooms. The museum stands near Charlottenburg Palace and is easy to visit in the same half-day. The collection grew out of the commitment of the patron Karl H. Bröhan, who gave it to the city of Berlin.

The museum occupies a former Garde du Corps barracks, facing the palace. Its sober architecture contrasts with the richly decorated rooms inside.

Complete interiors show what an elegant 1920s apartment looked like: furniture, lamps, rugs and everyday objects.

Glassware by Loetz (Bohemia) and Gallé is among the most colourful pieces in the collection; the display cases change from one hang to the next.
