C/O Berlin: Photography Exhibitions, Tickets and Opening Hours at the Amerika Haus

Updated on October 5, 2026

C/O Berlin is one of Europe's leading venues for photography and visual culture. Since 2014 it has occupied the Amerika Haus, a 1950s building on Hardenbergstraße behind Zoologischer Garten station, in the Charlottenburg district. There is no permanent collection: the programme changes several times a year, with major solo shows, emerging artists and an annual prize for young photographers. It is open every day from 11:00 to 20:00, public holidays included. A ticket costs €15 (reduced €8), free for under-18s. Allow one to two hours.

Highlights

The Amerika Haus

The Amerika Haus

Built in 1957 as an American cultural centre, the building at Hardenbergstraße 22-24 was a meeting place during the Cold War, with a library, lectures and exhibitions. Today it houses C/O Berlin.

The current exhibitions

In October 2026, the retrospective "Carrie Mae Weems: The Heart of the Matter" runs from 12 September 2026 to 3 February 2027, alongside "After Nature Prize 26" by Stelios Kallinikou and Susanne Kriemann until 20 January 2027. The programme changes several times a year: check the website before you go.

The bookshop and café

The photography bookshop at the entrance sells artists' books and catalogues. The café, open the same hours as the exhibitions, is a good place for a break before or after your visit.

The joint discount with the Museum of Photography

With a same-day C/O Berlin ticket, the Museum of Photography – Helmut Newton, 200 metres away, gives €2 off (€1 off the reduced ticket), and vice versa.
