Schloss Babelsberg Potsdam: visiting, tickets, opening hours and park (2026)
Schloss Babelsberg is a neo-Gothic castle in Babelsberg Park in Potsdam, on the Havel. In 2026 its interior is not yet restored and can only be seen on set dates, on "Zeit(ge)schichten" guided tours at €14 (€12 reduced), including 6 September and 25 October 2026 at 11am and 2pm. The park, by contrast, can be walked all year. For a day in Potsdam it is a quieter alternative to Sanssouci, but check dates before you come if you want to go inside. Information from the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation (SPSG) and cultural listings seen in October 2026; park entry prices and general opening hours could not be confirmed.
Highlights

The castle from the air
Built from 1833 to plans by Schinkel for Prince Wilhelm, the future Emperor Wilhelm I, in English neo-Gothic style, it overlooks a landscape park designed by Lenné and extended by Pückler.
The "Zeit(ge)schichten" guided tours
A small exhibition in the unrestored rooms of the main floor presents three themes with objects sometimes never shown before; the tour costs €14 (€12 reduced) and runs only on certain dates.
The Flatowturm
The park tower is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 5:30pm from 1 May to 31 October 2026 (last entry 30 minutes before closing), €5 (€4 reduced); closed on weekdays and closed from 1 November 2026 to 30 April 2027.
The castle concerts
The Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg plays in the former ballroom, for example on 30 August 2026 at 6pm, €22 to €27.

Tips
- Come outside tour dates for the park alone, but do not count on seeing the interior: book a guided tour if that is your aim. The Flatowturm opens at weekends only and only before November. Compare with other outings in Potsdam in our guides Potsdam from Berlin and which excursion to choose, the Sanssouci palace and the Filmpark Babelsberg (a different Babelsberg site). The Glienicke Bridge is nearby.
How to get there
Park Babelsberg, 14482 Potsdam. By S-Bahn (S7) to Potsdam or Babelsberg, then on foot or by bus through the park (check the route on the VBB site; allow 20 to 30 minutes on foot in the park). From central Berlin: about 40 to 50 minutes.
