Which area to choose
- Hermannplatz: the most convenient, with the U7 and U8 lines, shops and restaurants. Also the liveliest: ask for a courtyard room.
- Reuterkiez: residential streets, cafés and bars, quieter on weekdays. The Maybachufer Turkish market is close by.
- Sonnenallee and the S-Bahn station: the Ringbahn lines S41 and S42 serve the area; this is the Estrel's location, far from the centre but well connected.
What to avoid
Noise: Sonnenallee and Karl-Marx-Straße stay busy late at weekends. Also read recent reviews on cleanliness and the area outside the metro. For a first visit, compare with where to stay in Berlin and the hotels in Kreuzberg, direct neighbours.
For which kind of stay
- Nights out and budget: Hermannplatz, hotel or hostel (see also Berlin hostels).
- Something different: Hüttenpalast.
- Trade fair or group: Estrel.
- Walks: Tempelhofer Feld is a few stops away, and the Neukölln district guide details the outings.
