Water parks and baths compared

Tropical Islands: the families' choice

The rainforest under the Tropical Islands hall

The park fills a former airship hangar heated to about 26 °C all year: lagoon with beach, rainforest, slides and an outdoor Amazonia area. Day visitors enter from 8 am to 11:30 pm; the sauna area closes around 9:45 pm and the slides have shorter hours, according to a local guide. Book online on a weekday outside school holidays: it is the cheapest and quietest. By train, a free shuttle links Brand Tropical Islands station to the park. Everything is on the Tropical Islands page.

SaarowTherme: hot water for adults

On the shore of Lake Scharmützelsee, the SaarowTherme offers thermal pools and a sauna area; according to a regional portal, it opens 10 am to 9 pm Sunday to Thursday and until 11 pm on Friday and Saturday. Maintenance closures happen: check the calendar before you go. Allow half a day for the trip and the bath.

The other pools with slides

Schwapp in Fürstenwalde and the TURM ErlebnisCity in Oranienburg appear in family lists from May 2026, with several slides and a wave pool; we could not check their prices or hours: look at their websites before you go.

And in summer, without a park?

From May to September, the lakes are free and simpler: see lakes around Berlin, the Wannsee beach or the Badeschiff. In town, the Vabali Spa suits adults. For a plan with children, see Berlin with children.

Which to choose for your group

  • Children under 10, rainy day: Tropical Islands, on a weekday.
  • Couple needing rest: SaarowTherme or Vabali Spa.
  • Only one afternoon free: Vabali Spa, no travel.
  • Small budget: a lake in summer, Tropical Islands with an advance ticket the rest of the year.
