Deutsche Kinemathek in Berlin: the film museum has moved, opening hours and what to see
The Deutsche Kinemathek is Berlin's film and television museum. It left Potsdamer Platz and moved in 2026 into the former power station E-Werk, Mauerstraße 79, in Mitte, with the opening installation "Screentime" (23 January to 6 February 2026, daily 10:00-18:00, free admission on the opening weekend). I found no regular hours or prices for after that: check them before you come. Allow 1.5 to 2 hours for a film exhibition.
Highlights

The former address (Potsdamer Platz)
A photo of the museum at its old site, now closed. The collections on Marlene Dietrich, Expressionism ("Metropolis") and television belong to the Kinemathek's holdings; how they are shown in the new venue is to be confirmed.
The new E-Werk site
A former power station in Mitte, near Stadtmitte and Checkpoint Charlie, turned into an exhibition venue.

Tips
- Old information about the Potsdamer Platz museum no longer applies: the museum closed there. Check the Deutsche Kinemathek's official website for hours, prices and current exhibitions. To extend the film theme, see films and series shot in Berlin and the Filmpark Babelsberg. The Berlinale in February rounds out the cinema season.
How to get there
E-Werk, Mauerstraße 79, 10117 Berlin (Mitte). U2 or U6 metro to Stadtmitte, then about 5 minutes on foot. An AB ticket is enough.
