Markthalle Neun is a covered market hall from 1891 in the east of Kreuzberg. It was one of the 14 municipal market halls built in the late 19th century to designs by the city architect Hermann Blankenstein. Revived in 2011, it now brings together regional producers, food artisans, food stalls and bars under its iron roof. It is open Monday to Saturday; on Thursday evenings, Street Food Thursday draws a crowd of locals and visitors.
Highlights

The hall and its ironwork
Green cast-iron pillars, skylights and brick walls: the interior keeps the architecture of Berlin's imperial-era market halls. The communal tables in the middle let you eat on the spot whatever you buy at the stalls.

The market
From Monday to Thursday, the "Kleiner Markt" (small market) runs from 12pm to 6pm, with lunch served at midday on weekdays. On Friday from 12pm to 6pm and Saturday from 10am to 6pm, the "Großer Markt" (big market) brings in more producers, specialities and goods. Some traders open before and close after market hours.

The Eisenbahnstraße façade
The main entrance opens beneath the arch of the brick and render façade at Eisenbahnstraße 42/43; a second façade faces the parallel Pücklerstraße.
Street Food Thursday
Every Thursday from 5pm to 10pm, the hall fills with stalls of food from around the world: Thai dumplings, Brazilian tapioca pancakes, Mexican tacos, Kässpatzen from the Allgäu, Peruvian ceviche, Nigerian fufu, American barbecue, Korean buns. You pay for your food at each stall.
Sunday markets
The hall is closed on Sundays, except for its themed markets. In 2026: a children's flea market on 11 October (12pm-4pm), Cheese Berlin, the big artisan cheese fair held here since 2012, on 8 November (11am-6pm), the Raw Wine natural wine fair on 29 November (12pm-6pm) and the "Merry Markthalle" Christmas market on Sundays 6, 13 and 20 December (11am-6pm, free entry). The Breakfast Market only takes place occasionally: the next edition announced, with CSD Berlin, is on Saturday 3 October 2026 (10am-6pm).
