The calendar: a Sunday, during the Berlinale
- Sunday 14 February 2027: a working day for restaurants and museums, but not for shops (see Berlin on Sundays). Buy flowers and gifts on Saturday.
- Berlinale: the Berlin film festival runs from 10 to 21 February 2027. The public screenings, a dinner after a film or the red carpet at Potsdamer Platz make an original romantic programme; see the Berlinale page. The downside: hotels in the centre fill up and prices rise.
- Weather: February is cold, often with temperatures close to zero. Plan indoor activities as well as walks (see Berlin in winter).
Morning and afternoon: walks and views
The TV Tower offers a view of the city from 203 metres and is a safe choice for couples; book a time slot in advance, as the queue can be long. For a less touristy walk, Peacock Island (Pfaueninsel), in the south-west of the city, offers a peaceful park setting, but check the winter hours of the ferry and the park. On the water: a Spree cruise
A cruise on the Spree remains one of the simplest ideas for a couple: you see the central landmarks from the water without walking. In winter the offer is reduced and some companies do not sail every day; consult our guide to cruises and check departures the week of your stay. Dress warmly: covered boats are more pleasant in February.
In the evening: dinner, concert or show
On 14 February the good tables are full: book at least two to three weeks ahead, especially for dinner. Many restaurants offer a special fixed-price menu that evening: ask before booking to avoid surprises. - Flowers: florists are closed on Sundays; buy them the day before.
