Source: Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD), Berlin-Dahlem station, 1991-2020 normals consulted in October 2026. July is the wettest month of the year in Berlin, but the rain mostly falls as short late-afternoon thunderstorms: keep an indoor plan in reserve, see what to do in Berlin when it rains. For the whole season, read Berlin in summer; for the previous month, what to do in Berlin in June.
Crowds and Prices in July
July is peak season. Berlin's summer school holidays run from 1 July to 14 August 2027 (source: official holiday calendar), which fills the lakes, the regional trains to the Baltic coast or the Spreewald, and family attractions such as the zoo at weekends. Museums and monuments are less crowded than in Paris or Rome, but book accommodation early around the CSD weekend. No public holiday falls in July in Berlin: everything keeps its usual hours. What's On in July
CSD Berlin: The Pride March
Christopher Street Day (CSD) is Berlin's biggest LGBTQ+ event. In 2026 the parade took place on Saturday 25 July, with floats and groups marching through the city centre, followed by parties in several neighbourhoods. The 2027 date will be announced by the organisers (csd-berlin.de): it often falls at the end of July. See the LGBTQ+ Berlin guide for neighbourhoods and venues.

Classic Open Air at the Gendarmenmarkt
Every summer the Gendarmenmarkt square, in front of the Konzerthaus, becomes an open-air concert hall. The 2026 edition ran from 9 to 14 July, with an opening concert by the Konzerthaus orchestra and one evening a day mixing classical, popular and symphonic pop. Tickets were announced from around €65. Book ahead: the most popular evenings fill up. For more ideas, see concerts and shows in Berlin.
Open-Air Cinemas, Lakes and Beer Gardens
From May to September, open-air cinemas screen films at dusk, notably in the Volkspark Friedrichshain; screening times change every week, so check each venue's programme. The lakes are at their best: the Wannsee beach, the Müggelsee and the other spots in the guide to lakes around Berlin. For a beer outdoors, see Berlin's beer gardens.
What to Wear in July
- Light, breathable clothes, plus a thin sweater for evenings by the water.
- A swimsuit and a towel: a lake or lido is almost always on your way.
- A hat, sunglasses and sunscreen for days on the shadeless lawns of the Tempelhofer Feld.
- Mosquito repellent for evenings near the water.
- A light rain jacket for late-afternoon storms.
The Best Things to Do in July
- Swimming: Strandbad Wannsee, the Müggelsee, the Schlachtensee. Check water quality with Berlin's health office (LAGeSo) before swimming.
- Staying cool: during a heat spike, visit the Museum Island museums in the morning or an air-conditioned exhibition, and keep the parks for the end of the day. The Museumspass makes several visits worthwhile.
- On the water: a Spree cruise in the early evening.
- Parks: the Treptower Park and the Spreepark for an afternoon outdoors.
- Markets: weekend flea markets, see Berlin's markets.
- In the evening: night falls late in July, after 9 pm; see Berlin at night.
